Saturday night brought us to a beautiful waterfront venue in the Hudson Valley, The View on the Hudson in Piermont, for the wedding of Stephanie and Nick. While I have performed at this venue countless times throughout my career, this was actually my first time returning there under the DJ Live banner, which made the evening even more special.
Stephanie originally found DJ Live the old-fashioned way… through a Google search! Thankfully, she liked what she saw and reached out. From our very first conversation, it was clear that she and Nick were planning a wedding that would be unique, energetic, and unforgettable.
Our team was contracted to provide music and entertainment for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The ceremony was originally planned for the outdoor patio overlooking the river. Although the weather cooperated with sunshine and comfortable temperatures, the strong winds coming off the Hudson had other plans. The decision was made to move the ceremony indoors, positioning everyone in front of the venue’s windows overlooking the water.
It turned out to be the perfect choice.
Following the ceremony, guests made their way into the cocktail hour space where our DJ Live Photo Booth was already drawing a crowd. Throughout cocktail hour and well into the reception, guests utilized (and loved) the photo booth.
As cocktail hour concluded, everyone entered the main ballroom where the energy immediately began to build. Inside we had intelligent lighting, live percussion, Duke (our saxophone player), and one of my personal favorite enhancements, our Disco Ball!
Then came one of the most memorable grand entrances I’ve ever witnessed.
Stephanie and Nick entered the ballroom and immediately transitioned into a choreographed first dance featuring a custom mix I created that blended Metallica with a salsa track. Their dance brought the house down!
After the speeches and parent dances, it was time to officially open the dance floor. What happened next caught almost everyone by surprise.
As the first dance set was underway, La Hora Loca performers suddenly entered the ballroom. Dancers in elaborate costumes flooded the dance floor while a towering stilt-walking robot worked its way through the crowd. It was epic!
This type of interactive entertainment has become a popular wedding trend, and it’s easy to see why. It really gets the crowd going crazy! Without question, it was one of the highlights of the entire evening.
Once the performers wrapped up, the momentum never slowed down. The dance floor remained packed late into the night.
