Saturday night brought us to The Preston Barn in Dover Plains, New York. Located on the grounds of the historic Old Drovers Inn, According to their website, The Preston Barn is a unique venue built from reclaimed barns from around the Hudson Valley.
This was my first time performing there, and I would be happy to go back anytime.
Emma and Chris found DJ Live through several couples whose weddings we have done over the years. During cocktail hour, it felt like a reunion of past brides and grooms. One guest reminded me that I had performed at their wedding 29 years ago!
We provided music and sound for the outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, along with lighting and drums for the party. The ceremony took place outside on the lawn, where we provided the music and microphone for the officiant.
After the ceremony, guests moved to the patio for cocktail hour. Emma had put together a great playlist, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather.
At 6:00 PM, cocktail hour ended and everyone headed inside. Minutes later, the skies opened up and a heavy rainstorm rolled through. The timing couldn’t have been better. Everyone was inside before the rain started.
Once the party got underway, the dance floor stayed packed all night. The crowd brought incredible energy from start to finish.
One of the funniest moments happened during the biggest dance set of the night. Our smoke machine set off the venue’s smoke alarm. It was completely harmless, but what made it memorable was that nobody left the dance floor. The alarm was going off, and everyone kept dancing.
The night ended with “Revival” by Zach Bryan. If you’re looking for a song to close out your wedding, give that one a listen. It absolutely brought the house down.
