Some events stay with you long after the last song ends. Friday night’s prom for Holy Child at Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club was definitely one of those nights.
We were honored to provide the music, lighting, and Photo Booth for this incredible celebration, but what made this prom extra special was the story behind it.
The event was actually referred to us by my longtime DJ, who also happens to be a teacher at the school. The students know him as Mr. Colon. The school did an amazing job keeping everything a complete secret leading up to prom night. When the students walked into the room and realized their own teacher was standing behind the DJ booth, the reaction was priceless!
From that moment on, the party never slowed down.
The dance floor was packed all night long. Our lighting created a full-on party atmosphere, while the Photo Booth became one of the biggest hits of the evening.
As someone who spends most weekends performing weddings at Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club, it was such a fun change of pace to experience the venue hosting a prom. The location really is one of Westchester’s hidden gems.
For me personally, one of the biggest surprises of the night came before the music even started.
When we arrived, I found out that my longtime friend of more than 25 years, Bob McSweeney, is now the Events and Banquets Manager at the club. Bob and I go way back. We worked together for years at venues including Glen Island Harbour Club and Tappan Hill Mansion. Seeing him there brought back so many great memories from the old days in the event business.
Bob could not have been more welcoming. He introduced me to his entire staff, made us feel right at home, and reminded me exactly why he has always been so respected in this industry.
