Last night’s wedding at The Garrison in Garrison, New York, was one for the books. Morgan and Stephen tied the knot surrounded by the beauty of the Hudson Valley and a room full of friends and family who came ready to celebrate. I was connected to Stephen through a longtime friend and coworker of his, and I’m so glad he reached out.
We were brought in to provide sound for the ceremony, music for the cocktail hour and reception, as well as lighting, percussion, and a photo booth. One of the special touches of the day was the live violin music during the ceremony, performed beautifully by Morgan’s good friend Ann Marie. She played the preludes, processional, and recessional, and absolutely set the tone for a romantic and ceremony, officiated by the bride’s Aunt Christina, overlooking the scenic valley.
If you’re looking for a venue with breathtaking views and excellent service, I highly recommend The Garrison. I’ve worked there many times over the years, and they continue to impress. The newly redesigned cocktail and ballroom spaces are elegant and inviting. Ask for Annie if you visit — she’s always great to work with.
From the moment the ceremony ended, the energy was high. Morgan and Stephen curated a cocktail hour playlist that blended contemporary hits with oldies.
Then it was time to head into the ballroom and that’s when the party really kicked into gear. The introductions were full of energy and personality. When Morgan and Stephen made their entrance, they dropped down and did a set of push-ups on the dance floor, a nod to their fitness lifestyle. It was a fun and unique moment that got everyone cheering.
Throughout the night, the music reflected their taste, leaning more toward classic rock than your typical wedding club anthems. Tracks from Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Nicks filled the room, and a major highlight came when Aunt Jack took the mic and brought down the house with a live rendition of “Edge of Seventeen!”
Later in the evening, Morgan and Stephen’s friends lifted them up in chairs, and multiple guests (including the bride and groom themselves) joined in on the drums!
And just when you thought the surprises were over, a donut truck pulled up outside during dessert. Nobody saw it coming, and it was a sweet ending to a great event.
Huge thanks to Morgan and Stephen for choosing DJ Live to be part of your big day. It was truly an honor to celebrate with you and help bring your vision to life.
Until next time,
