We had the pleasure of being part of an awesome wedding last night for Dave and Peter at The Briarcliff Manor — a beautiful mansion-style venue in Westchester with great views and a lot of character.
The ceremony was outside right around sunset, and it was perfect. Peter’s brother officiated and did it in both Mandarin and English, which was a really nice touch since Peter is Chinese. A few of their friends played guitar and sang for the processional, and it added a really personal vibe.
After the ceremony, everyone moved over to the courtyard for cocktail hour, also outside. We provided the music for both the ceremony and cocktail hour.
Once it was time to go inside for the reception, the party really got started. Inside the dining room, we had our full sound setup, drums, our sax player Duke (who was on fire as always), a photo booth, and uplighting to set the mood.
One of the biggest highlights of the night was Dave and Peter’s first dance. Both have a theater background, so they wanted to do something different. The song started as a recorded vocal track, but halfway through, it switched to instrumental. That’s when they pulled mics out of their pockets and sang live for the rest of the song. The place went nuts — it was one of the most heartfelt first dances I’ve seen.
From there, the night just got better. Their guests were on the dance floor all night, singing along and having a blast. There were five speeches — both dads, the maid of honor, best man, and a close friend. Each one was personal and well done.
Peter even jumped on the drums at one point, which was awesome. Duke crushed it on the sax. And the photo booth was busy all night — 134 pictures taken!
It was an amazing night and a real celebration of love. Big thanks to Dave and Peter for choosing DJ Live for their wedding. And shout out to Perry and the team at The Briarcliff Manor — they always do a great job.
