When we arrived at Arrow Park in Monroe last night for the wedding of Catherine and Keith, a light drizzle lingered in the air. Despite the venue’s indoor pavilion as a backup, the bride was determined to have her reception outdoors under the string lights in the courtyard. The caterer and setup staff decided to wait until the last minute to make a decision. Just as we were deliberating, the rain ceased, the sun emerged, and the skies remained clear for the rest of the evening.
This moment held profound significance, as the bride had lost her mother just a week prior. Throughout the evening, heartfelt announcements reminded guests that the bride’s parents were watching from above, encouraging everyone to celebrate in their honor. The sun’s timely appearance brightened the bride’s day in more ways than one.
The ceremony took place in the garden, where I provided sound and music. Due to a medical emergency, the best man couldn’t attend, so we quickly arranged a live stream to ensure he could witness the ceremony.
Afterward, guests moved into the mansion for cocktail hour, enjoying delicious offerings from Chef Roc. Dinner was served family-style and delicious as well!
After cocktail hour, the guests moved to the courtyard, now complete with beautiful tables and ambient lighting. The DJ set featured CO2 cannons, sparklers, drums, and, of course, great sound. Catherine and Keith’s children participated in the festivities, and having worked with many of Catherine’s friends and family over the years, it was a joy to see everyone dancing and celebrating.
A highlight of the evening was the bride and groom, along with guests, taking turns with the CO2 cannon, and a special tribute dance to “Old Time Rock ‘n’ Roll” in honor of the bride’s parents, which had everyone on their feet.
It was a night filled with love, remembrance, and celebration. I can’t wait to return to Arrow Park and look forward to the next family wedding. A special shout-out to my son, home from college, who rocked the drums!
