Last night’s wedding at Reid Castle on the Manhattanville College campus had everything you hope for in a celebration. A stunning historic setting, a couple who knew exactly how they wanted their night to feel, and a crowd ready to celebrate from the very first moment.

Jacqueline and Taylor hired us to handle music for both the cocktail hour and the reception. Because Reid Castle is a multi-room venue, we set up separate sound systems so guests had a seamless experience as they moved through the space. Cocktail hour had its own sound, and the ballroom featured our full setup with uplighting around the room and dance floor lighting on the columns.

When cocktail hour wrapped up, I invited everyone into the main ballroom. Guests settled in, expecting a classic entrance through the main doors. We played into that expectation with a spotlight focused right on the entrance.
Then came the twist.
As everyone watched the doorway, we shifted a spotlight to the balcony that overlooks the ballroom. There stood Jacqueline and Taylor, smiling down at their family and friends. The room erupted. It was a dramatic and beautiful start to the night, completely in line with their style.

They made their way down and went straight into their first dance, which set the tone for the rest of the reception.
Next came one of my favorite interactive moments: the anniversary dance. One by one, couples stepped off the dance floor as the years climbed higher: five, ten, fifteen, twenty, and beyond. The last couple standing, (married 62 years – can you imagine?!) got a huge reaction!
Speeches followed, each one thoughtful and personal. Dinner was served. The cake was cut. And then the party took over.
Once the open dancing began, the energy didn’t dip for a second. The bride and groom gave us a fantastic playlist and a clear list of do-not-play songs, so the flow stayed tight and the vibe stayed exactly where they wanted it. Guests filled the floor all night.

Shaun, the banquet manager, was a pleasure to work with. Reid Castle’s staff kept everything moving smoothly, and the venue itself added so much character. It’s not your typical catering hall. The space has presence, history, and a sense of occasion that makes a wedding feel special the moment you walk through the door.
If you’re looking for a venue with personality and style, reach out to Shaun at Reid Castle on the Manhattanville College campus. Jacqueline and Taylor’s wedding showed just how magical this setting can be.
Until next time,
